Wetlands are identified using vegetation, soils and hydrology characteristics. Westech vegetation ecologists have been involved in several wetlands delineation projects in recent years, involving U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Army Corps of Engineers, and Environmental Protection Agency criteria and manuals.

Westech has delineated and inventoried wetlands as part of baseline inventories, restoration efforts, mitigation, and monitoring guidelines. Data collected from the various inventories has been used to satisfy regulatory agency requirements for industrial clients or to provide data to governmental resource planning and management.

As part of baseline inventories for Express Pipeline, Westech staff delineated over 300 wetlands and has monitored the recovery of these wetlands for the past five years. In addition Westech has participated on over 30 different projects involving the delineation, inventory, mitigation and restoration of wetlands. Westech is also experienced with the preparation of 404 permit applications and wetland mitigation plans.

Westech also conducts wetland delineations and inventories for private landowners and organizations interested in restoration and management planning of wetland ecosystems.

The scope of a wetland delineation and inventory can be tailored to meet the specific interest or needs of the client.
